Abstract

1480331 Device for stopping vehicles R B W LOWNDES 14 Aug 1974 [29 May 1973] 25519/73 Heading EIG A device for deflating pneumatic tyres comprises hollow spikes 11 releasably mounted as a push fit in cups 14 or apertures on a support 13. The spikes are grooved or fluted and may include explosives. The spikes are secured to a tape 10, Fig. 2, by upper and lower plates 13, 12 held to the tape by rivets 15 with the spikes 11 releasably engaging a cup 14. Alternatively, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the spikes may be supported in cups within a solid resilient block on the tape. In another embodiment, Fig. 5, the spikes 11 are mounted in resilient blocks 17 having ballasted bases 18 so that they tend to land upright when projected. In a further embodiment the spikes are mounted on the arms of a lazy tongs or an extendable lattice, Fig. 6 (not shown).
