Abstract

1467981 Comminuting refuse; rotary screens EBARA MFG CO Ltd 30 April 1974 [1 May 1973] 18852/74 Headings B2A and B2H A method for recovering crude pulp stock from municipal waste comprising waste paper, relatively hard material (bottles or cans) food waste and plastics rubber and wood, is effected in an apparatus comprising a hopper 11 for the waste a first rotatable cylindrical screen pulverizer 14 comprising an outer cylinder 12 and an inner screen 13. The soft food waste is pulverized by means of the hard material, the food waste passing the screen 13 and being discharged from the cylinder 12. The waste paper which remains is pulverized in a second rotatable cylindrical screen pulverizer 17 likewise passes a cylindrical screen 19 and is discharged. A spray 16 moistens the waste paper before it is received in the second pulverizer. Each pulverizer may have blades (not shown) which may be rotatable independently of the inner cylindrical screen. The pulverizers are mounted on rollers 30, 31 and driven by motors 34, 35.
