Abstract

1467360 Contacting solids PENNZOIL CO 29 May 1974 23778/74 Heading BIF [Also in Division Cl] A reactor for sulphiding metal ore concentrates comprises steel chamber 6 containing steel plates 7 each having slots for continuous flow of solid fed from star feeder 4 and conduit 5. On centre shaft 8 are mounted blades 9 which scrape the solids horizontally across plates 7 to exit finally as reaction product at 10. Liquid sulphur from 12 is flashed in pot 13 to vapour which enters the reactor at 14. Nitrogen is introduced at 5, 10, 16, 17, 18 to act as carrier and control the partial pressure of the sulphur vapour.
