Abstract

1466103 Washing machines PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN NV 15 Feb 1974 [19 Feb 1973] 6964/74 Heading D1A In a top loading horizontal axis washing machine with a drum 2 within a resiliently suspended tub I and, a driving motor 8 secured below the tub within a housing with a top lid 28, and the flanks 29 and 30 of the drum and tub are each of frusto-conical shape with a central outwardly facing concavity housing a stub shaft or a bearing therefor respectively, the ratio of drum volume to housing volume is a maximum of 4.8. The machine, which is controlled by a manual electrical contactor or a programmer 11, further comprises a drain pump with a removable cover 13, an electro-valve 16 controlling-water inlet lines (17), (18) (Fig. 1, not shown) to a detergent dispenser 19 mounted on the tub. The tube further comprises inertia masses 25 on each side and a loading funnel 22 with a hinged deflector 44 below an unsealed lid 24. Anti-clockwise rotation of the drum during spin drying causes a suction in the passage 50 between a "wall 51 of the detergent dispenser and a side 52 of a ridge 46 below the deflector 44 to return any water in the door frame to the tub.
