Abstract

1465264 Olefin polymerization catalyts BP CHEMICALS INTERNATIONAL Ltd 20 March 1974 [12 Feb 1973 (2)] 6783/73 and 6784/73 Heading C3P [Also in Division B1] Ethylene is polymerized using a catalyst made by fluidizing a precursor in air at 700‹ C., the precursor having been made by a process which comprises incorporating water and CrO 3 into a water-insoluble, porous, inorganic oxide having a water pore volume of at least 0À5 ml./g., the quantity of water being 5-100% of the total water pore volume, dispersing the water throughout the support material and drying.
