Abstract

1458598 Crosslinked methylacrylamide copolymers DESOTO Inc 24 July 1974 [30 July 1973] 32722/74 Heading C3P A thermosetting composition comprises (I) an interpolymer of N-methylolacrylamide, a monoethylenic carboxylic acid, one or more of styrene, vinyl toluene and methyl methacrylate as a "hard" monomer, and a C 4-24 alkyl acrylate or methacrylate and (II) an aliphatic polyol which is a reaction product of a polyol and a lactone, interpolymer (I) comprising 7-20% by weight of amide, a ratio of carboxyl to N- methylol functionality of 0À5 : 1 to 0À9 : 1, at least 50% by weight of the "hard" monomer and 3-20% of the ester and polyol (II) having a molecular weight of 350-5,000 and a hydroxy functionality of 2-4, the amounts of (I) and (II) providing a ratio of hydroxy to N-methylol functionality of 0À06 : 1 to 0À6 : 1.
