Abstract

1457164 Discharge collecting system HOLLISTER Inc 6 Sept 1974 [1 Oct 1973] 38995/ 74 Heading A5R A discharge collecting system, for collecting from and providing access to a wound or opening 16 in the body of a patient With a tubular drain 18 therein, comprises, a sheet of soft pliable plastics material to adhesively engage the skin of the patient and having a rectangular gelatinous blanket 14 ,thereon, with an aperture 17 to provide access to the opening 16, a flexible pilasiticis bag 20 having an inner wall 21 and an outer wall 22 and a hole in each wall encircled by a stiff but deformable plastics. ring, one ring engaging the plastics sheet about the aperture therein and being spaced by separators from the other ring to provide access to the bag. A hemispherical transparent plastics cap 33 ils removably attachable to one of the rings to provide access .to the opening 16 with tabs 29 being provided therefor. The cap may be attached directly to the sheet without the bag 20 when 'the discharge is sufficiently light.
