Abstract

1443848 Winding continuously made yarns INDUSTRIE - WERKE KARLSRUHE AUGSBURG AG 18 April 1974 [26 April 1973] 16970/74 Heading D1J This invention relates to apparatus for winding up continuously produced yarns and is concerned with a yarn winding-up apparatus having a plurality of bobbins C1 C2, C3 Fig. 6 arranged on chucks which moves transversely to and fro so as to be pressed against and retracted from a common drive roll 1; a traverse device 4 having a yarn guide which is movable to and fro in the longitudinal direction of the bobbins, characterised in that passing along the centre of the drive roll 1, which is constructed as a hollow shaft, is a yarn aspirator and yarn feed arm 6 which is axially displaceable and rotatable intermittently about the axis of the roll 1 to feed yarn FY to the appropriate bobbin C1, C2, C3 to be wound, and a disc 18, Fig. 3, rotating with the yarn feed arm 6 and cooperating with control means determining the winding station at which the rotation of the aspirator and yarn feed arm 6 shall be caused to stop. In Fig. 3, a first yarn FY has been swung by an arm 9 to the suction nozzle 6a of the aspirator and feed arm 6, the yarn passing through the arm 6 to a tube 1a extending through the drive roll 1. The wound yarn is collected in a receptacle at the discharge end of the tube 1a. The bobbin Cl is then moved transversely into engagement with the drive roll 1, Fig. 5 (not shown) to bring the bobbin C1 up to speed. In Fig. 6 the arm 6 has been swung past the bobbin Cl to a setting in which a yarn receiving and cutting device 17 in the bobbin C1 cuts the yarn from the arm 6 and secures it to the bobbin C1. The winding of the bobbin Cl then commences and the arm 6 rotates a waiting station, Fig. 7 (not shown), close to the path of movement of the arm 9. A reserve yarn RY, Fig. 8, is then strung up and swung by the arm 9 to a setting in which it is caught by the nozzle 6a of the aspirator and feed arm 6. Waste reserve yarn is disposed of by the aspirator as before. The bobbin C2 is then moved transversely into engagement with the drive roll 1, Fig. 9, to bring the bobbin C2 up to speed. In Fig. 9 the arm 6 has been swung past the bobbin C2 to a setting in which a yarn receiving and cutting device 17 in the bobbin C2 cuts the yarn from the arm 6 and secures it to the bobbin C2. The winding of the bobbin C2 then commences and the arm 6 returns to the waiting station close to the path of movement of the arm 9. . Two bobbins are now being wound simultaneously the respective threads being traversed by -the traversing means 4. When the bobbin C1 is fully wound, the bobbin C3 is moved into engagement with the drive roll 1 to bring the bobbin C3 up to speed. The arm 9 is then swung to a setting in which it displaces the first yarn FY towards the arm 6 where it is cut off from the bobbin C1. The leading end of the cut yarn is transferred to the aspirator of the arm 6 and waste material is then sucked away through the tube 1a. The arm 6 is then rotated clockwise past the bobbins C1, C2 and C3 to a setting where a yarn receiving and cutting device in the bobbin C3 cuts the yarn from the arm 6 and secures it to the bobbin C3. The winding of the bobbin C3 then commences and the arm 6 rests at this waiting station. The bobbin C1 can then be doffed and replaced with an empty bobbin. Similarly, when the bobbin C2 is fully wound the reserve yarn RY can be picked up by the arm 6 and transferred to the empty bobbin C1 which is now in engagement with the roller 1 to bring it up to speed. The cycle of events is thus continuous. The Specification describes yarn pusher members but acts on the yarn in a manner preventing them from becoming tangled with each other as they are traversed back and forth by the traversing means 4. The disc 18 of Fig. 3 rotates with the arm 6 and may be formed with a plurality of perforations into any one of which a pin can be pneumatically inserted and retracted in order to hold the arm 6 at any of its desired working positions during the continuous wind up cycle of the machine.
