Abstract
1339798 Abdominal band T NAKAYAMA 9. Dec 1971 57156/71 Heading A3V An abdominal band comprises a web 1 of rubberised material having a thicker layer 2 of rubberised material secured to one side by adhesive and by peripheral stitching 6, the free surface of the layer 2 which forms the outer layer of the band when worn carrying filamentary loops to engage with filamentary hooks 7 of synthetic resin integrally formed on a plurality of spaced pieces 8 sewn to the inner surface of the web 1 at one end thereof and thereby to hold the band against the abdomen of a wearer with a self-adjusting tightness due to the elasticity of the material used. A rectangular piece of cloth 4 is sewn to the inner surface of the web 1 to define a pocket 5 and two further elongated pockets as 10 at the ends of the inner surface of the web carrying synthetic resin reinforcing strips as 9. The band is stated to protect the abdomen from being chilled and/or to protect the same against abdominal ailments which the band is also claimed to cure.
