Abstract

1339147 Winding metal strip DAVY & UNITED ENG CO Ltd 15 Aug 1972 [27 Sept 1971] 44882/71 Heading B3E Apparatus for removing a severed band from an article comprises a two-pronged fork 16 movable between a position away from the article and a position in which the prongs straddle the band, means to rotate the fork to wind up the band, and an abutment surface relative to which the fork is movable to strip off the wound band. In the apparatus described, the abutment is provided by a part annular guide 21 whidh shapes the wound band, and guide and fork are movable along a shaft 7 by an hydraulic jack, the last part of the retracting stroke of which withdraws the fork 16 from the guide while compressing springs 27, thus dropping the wound band into a collecting box. Shaft 7 is also rotatable to rotate the fork by chain drive 18.
