Abstract
1339010 Tetrazolyl-anthraquinones ALLEN & HANBURYS Ltd 21 Oct 1971 [27 Nov 1970] 56464/70 Heading C2C Novel compounds II in which X is a 5-[IM]-tetrazolyl group and R 1 is H, halo, OH, OR 2 or NR 3 R 4 in which R 2 is 1-6 C alkyl or 2-6 C alkenyl group optionally substituted by one or more OH, aryl, aryloxy; alkoxy or dialkylamino groups; and R 3 and R 4 are H, 1-6 C alkyl optionally substituted by OH or NR 3 R 4 is a heterocyclic ring, and their salts are prepared by reacting a compound I where X is CN with hydrazoic acid or a salt thereof (e.g. salts with dimethylaminoethanol). The nitrile starting materials are prepared by reacting the appropriate acid with a halogenating agent, reacting the acid halide produced with NH 3 , and dehydrating the amide formed with e.g. tosyl chloride. Pharmaceutical compositions with useful immunological activity comprise a compound I and a suitable excipient for oral, parenteral or aerosol administration.
