Abstract

1338505 Lubricants WITCO CHEMICAL CORP 19 July 1971 [7 Aug 1970] 33794/71 Heading C5F Lubricants comprise a white mineral oil having an unsulphonatable residue of at least 97% by wt. and a viscosity of 40-500 S.U.S. at 100‹ F., 5-50 wt. per cent of a polybutene of mol. wt. 500-15,000, 0À1-1% of a C 8 -C 22 fatty acid or a C 1 -C 7 alkyl ester thereof and 0À01-2% of a di- and/or tri-substituted phenol antioxidant wherein the substituents are one or more alkyl groups and optionally one or more alkoxy groups at least one being a tertiary alkyl group. Phenols specified include 4- methyl - 2,6 - di - t - butylphenol, 2,4 - dimethyl- 6 - t - butylphenol and 2 - t - butyl - 4 - ethoxyphenol.
