Abstract

1338371 Baling machines AMERICAN HOIST & DERRICK CO and H F KELLY 20 Nov 1970 55293/70 Heading B5F Apparatus for baling waste paper comprises a ram 26 reciprocating in a compression chamber 24, and a ram 86 for transferring the compressed material to a strapping chamber 102, the ram 86 operating in a direction at right angles to the ram 26. The ram 26 operates a plunger head 34 mounted on rollers 38. The chamber 24 has a loading opening 44 which is closed during compression by a cover 46 operated by a ram 52. The ram 86 operates a head 90 which has a boxlike rectangular shroud 92, Fig. 5, mounted on rollers 94. The compression chamber has a discharge opening 100 which is closable by a gate 104 operated by a ram 106. The floor and sides of the strapping chamber are formed by rollers 116, 118 respectively. The compression chamber 24 has an end wall 70 which may be moved toward the plunger head 34 during compression and moved to the right by rams 72 during bale transfer. Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown) show hydraulic and electric circuits respectively for controlling the sequence of operations of the machine.
