Abstract
1338183 Loading rail waggons EDWARD L BATEMAN Ltd 24 March 1972 [30 June 1971 14 Dec 1971] 14068/72 Heading B8E 4 A line of trucks 1, Fig. 1, is loaded whilst moving to the right by a hopper 2 which initially moves at the same speed and in the same direction as the truck until the front thereof is filled and then remains stationary until all its contents are discharged. Soon after this, hopper 3 begins to discharge and hopper 2 moves to its original position for recharging from a surge bin 6 and vibratory conveyer 7. When the truck is nearly full hopper 3 moves in the opposite direction to the train to fill the rear end of the truck. When empty the hopper 3 moves to its original position. The whole process takes place automatically under the control of electrical impulses from switches along the track. In a second embodiment the hoppers 2, 3, Fig. 6, are stationary and a shuttle conveyer 12 moves initially with the train and then in the opposite direction thereto to fill the moving trucks.
