Abstract

1337726 Unloading liquid cargoes EMCO WHEATON UK Ltd 19 April 1971 [9 Jan 1970 12 Jan 1971] 8986/71 and 1530/71 Divided out of 1337725 Addition to 1337725 Heading B8E In apparatus for unloading liquids of the type shown in Fig. 1, extra counter-balancing is provided by filling the hollow jib 7 with liquid before unloading starts and gradually withdrawing the liquid from the jib as the pipes 8, 9, 13 and 10 are filled with the liquid which is being unloaded. Thus the balance of the apparatus is maintained as liquid is drawn therethrough. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2, the liquid being unloaded passes through the jib 20 and counter-balancing is provided by a variable amount of liquid in a container 24 attached to the jib. A similar container 27, Fig. 3, (not shown), may be attached to the down-pipe 8. Fig. 4 (not shown), illustrates an embodiment in which the counter-balancing members 21, 22, 23 are omitted, the construction being otherwise similar to that shown in Fig. 2.
