1336737 Vehicle guiding; vehicle with guide wheels SRL SOC PER LA STRADA GUIDATA SSG 1 Dec 1970 [6 Dec 1969] 56932/70 Headings B7H B7D and B7L A road vehicle has horizontally disposed guide wheels 26 and associated switch rollers 28 connected with the steering wheel assemblies and which are retractable from co-operation with guide sides or banks to a position within the outer periphery of the vehicle there being means provided for locking the extreme positions of the wheels 26. As shown in Fig. 2 arms 22 are pivoted at 20 to beams 18 which may be orientated by the steering mechanism to steer the wheels 3. In their retracted positions, the arms 22 remain within the vehicle periphery in all orientations of the beams 18 and may be rotated into their outward positions about pivots 20 by means of an hydraulic jack control 32 which is assembled between two arms 30 integral with each arm 22. The jack control may alternatively be operated by mechanical or pneumatic means. The rear wheels 5, Fig. 5, are non- orientatable and a cross-beam 41 supports arms 45 on vertical pins 43. The arms 45 which bear further guide wheels 47 and associated switch rollers 49 are operated by a single hydraulic unit 51 via arms 53 integral with the arms 45. Similar locking means are provided for the arms 45 in their extreme positions.
