Abstract

1336103 Protecting ships B KIRKSAETER and O RASMUSSEN 4 Jan 1972 [1 Feb 1971] 278/72 Heading B7S A ship's hull is, prior to launching, painted, provided with anti-fouling, and coated with paraffin wax. After launching, the wax layer provides protection against corrosion and fouling during fitting out and then wears away when the ship is put into general service to expose undamaged paint and anti-fouling. The need to redock the ship for painting is thus avoided.
