Abstract

1335368 Moulding footwear soles G B BRITTON & SONS Ltd 3 Nov 1970 [5 Nov 1969] 54119/69 Heading B5A A mould assembly for moulding footwear soles comprises a sole mould member 40 having a fixed wall 41 surrounding the periphery of a base surface 47, two pivotally mounted welt plate supporting members 44, 45 disposed adjacent the outside of the wall 41, each supporting member having a top surface which can lie flush with the top surface of the wall 41, and two welt plates 66, 67 attached to the top surfaces of the members 44, 45 respectively, which welt plates are movable between a closed position seen in Fig. 4 and an open position permitting removal of the moulded sole. As shown, the supporting members are pivoted about axes 58, 59 disposed below the level of the welt plates 66, 67. Modifications.-The arrangement shown in Fig. 4 could be inverted, the welt plates being returned to a horizontal attitude by bob weights. The supporting members and welt plates may be formed as a number of separate components which may be pivoted about hinge axes inclined relative to one another. The sole mould member may be made from two side mould members rigidly secured together.
