Abstract
1332808 Treating charges SAIENSU KOGYO K K 4 Nov 1970 52364/70 Heading F1B [Also in Division H5] Fuel/air supply apparatus for an I. C. engine comprises a carburettor which supplies an airfuel mixture to a manifold, a secondary air inlet to the manifold and an irradiation device through which the secondary air passes and by which it is weakly irradiated before entering the manifold. Air enters a cleaner 1, mixed with fuel in carburettor 2 and passes through manifold 3 to the engine 7. Secondary air 5 enters irradiation device 6 and passes through pipe 4 to the manifold 3. At the outlet of irradiation device 6 is a spring-loaded disc valve which prevents reverse flow through the device 6. The irradiation device consists of a filter 10 e.g. of paper, on which is deposited a pulverized weakly radio-active material e.g. natural uranium, radium or trium ore.
