1331758 Fertiliser distributors P CHRISTIE 1 Oct 1970 46692/70 Heading AID A fertilizer distributor comprises an elongated hopper box 18 in the bottom of which is rotatalbly mounted a plurality of star or paddle wheels (not shown) for controlling the delivery of the fertilizer to a corresponding number of outlets in the box. The wheels are rotated by bevel wheels 22 geared to drive shaft 24 connected by chain and sprocket drive 26, 32, 30 to a bladed trailing wheel 28 on a pivotally adjustable arm 36 journalled directly to an end of the drive shaft 24. The distributor is not supported on land wheels but is adapted to be mounted directly on a tractor tool bar which may comprise frame members 1, 2, 3. When used for example in conjunction with ridging ploughs 7 and delivery chutes 47 for seed, e.g. potatoes, a "clapper" device comprising jockey wheel 34 with pins 41 which engage a spring loaded tongue (42) (Fig. 3, not shown) is used which emits a sharp sound at regular intervals to aid operators seated on boards 50 to dispense the seeds down chutes 47. The fertiliser is dispensed down tubes 48 to nozzles 49. Shield 51 may serve as a coulter. Instead of chutes 47 automatic seed-feeding means of known type may be provided in which case the clapper device is not required.
