1331353 4-Hydroxybenzoic acid aryl esters CIBA-GEIGY AG 23 Aug 1971 [26 Aug 1970] 39412/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel compounds of Formula I in which R 1 denotes a C 1 -C 5 alkyl group, a C 5 -C 8 cycloalkyl group or a C 7 -C 9 aralkylgroup; R 2 denotes a C 3 -C 8 α-branched alkyl, C 5 -C 8 cycloalkyl or C 7 -C 9 α-aralkyl group; R 3 and R 5 independently denote C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 5 -C 8 cycloalkyl, C 7 -C 9 aralkyl or phenyl group or chlorine; R 4 denotes H, chlorine, C 1 - C 18 alkyl, C 5 -C 8 cycloalkyl, C 7 -C 9 aralkyl or phenyl group, which compounds are excellent light protecting agents for light sensitive polymers, are prepared by reacting a phenol of Formula II with an acid chloride of Formula III,
