Abstract

1331175 Air filters FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 14 Dec 1971 [31 Dec 1970] 57949/71 Heading B1T An air cleaner assembly for a carburettor comprises an obtuse cone-shaped filter element 26 which is formed with circular pleats 28 which are concentric to one another, the element having a horizontal outer periphery 34 bonded to a thin polymeric seal 36 which is clamped between the ledge 20 of circular tray 10 and the cover 38. The inner periphery 29 of the filter element is bonded to thin polymeric seal 30 which is pressed between ledge 16 and perforated metal flame trap 40. The air enters the assembly through inlet 22; and the clean air leaves through outlet 17. The filter element may be made of paper or other fibrous material, and it can be impregnated with various materials (unspecified) to improve shape retention, filtering efficiency and filtering capacity.
