1325496 Nickel salts of phosphonic acid half esters CIBA-GEIGY AG 28 Aug 1970 [29 Aug 1969] 41540/70 Heading C2P [Also in Divisions C3 and C5] Nickel derivatives of alkyl hydroxybenzyl phosphonic acid half esters of formula where A<SP>1</SP> is C 1-6 alkyl, A<SP>2</SP> is H or C 1-6 alkyl and A<SP>3</SP> is C 1-30 alkyl, and one of B<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>2</SP> and B<SP>3</SP> is hydroxyl and the others H, are useful for stabilizing organic materials, e.g. animal, vegetable and mineral oils and waxes, resins and polymers, against thermal and oxidative degradation, particularly in admixture with (1) a benzophenone or benzotriazole and (2) a phydroxybenzoic acid ester. The salts of Formula I may be prepared by reacting the corresponding free acid with a nickel halide.
