Abstract

1322014 Screen construction TUFDURA Ltd 7 May 1971 [9 May 1970] 22515/70 Heading B2H A screen plate 10(11) comprises a resilient composite sheet constructed from three layers of elastomeric sheet material bonded together with intervening layers of a woven mesh-like material, the layers of the mesh-like material having been held in a resiliently prestressed tensile condition in the direction of the warp or weft threads, or both, of the mesh during the bonding process, the sheet having a number of holes punched therein from the face of the sheet remote from that against which material to be screened is to impinge, and mounting means 12-18, adjacent a pair of opposite edges of the sheet, by means of which the sheet is supported in tension in the or one of directions in which the layers of mesh-like material were prestressed. Angle members 12 placed on top of the sheet are bolted to metal strips 13 supported on channel joists 15 carried at opposite ends of transverse joists 16. The joists 15 carry side plates 17 to which the side flanges of the members 12 are attached by bolts 18, tightening of the bolts causing the screen sheets to be tensioned. A number of plates 10, 11 are mounted end to end with their respective composite sheets connected together by bolted cover strips 20 positioned above and below the sheets. The plates 10, 11 are mounted on longitudinal supports 21 carried by the joists 16, each support carrying a longitudinally-extending angle member 22 secured by bolts 25 to a metal strip inserted in a capping strip 23 of elastomeric material secured by the bolts 25 to the upper surfaces of the plates 10, 11. A modification with a somewhat different supporting structure is described. Specification 1322013 is referred to.
