Abstract
1320377 Charging glass melting furnaces BRITISH OXYGEN CO Ltd 12 Aug 1971 [12 Aug 1970] 38864/70 Heading C1M [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for charging a glass melting furnace comprises a hopper 6 disposed over a screw feeder 3 incorporating a water cooled oxy-fuel furner 7 having a nozzle 8 projecting slightly forward of the feeder. The latter is driven by a conventional electric motor 11 and the pile of charge material 12 accumulating on the glass bath 13 is preheated by the burner flame which it prevents from overheating the furnace walls 2.
