Abstract

1306208 Pipe wrench ATLAS COPCO AB 28 April 1971 [28 April 1970] 11829/71 Heading B3N A pipe wrench comprises an interconnected pair of outer rings 1 constituting an actuating unit rotatable relative to an interconnected pair of inner rings 2 constituting an holding unit to which dogs 3 are pivoted eccentrically, and a handle 8 connected between both units so as to cause relative rotation between the units, with resultant gripping of a pipe 13 by the dogs 3, when the handle is moved from its radial position of Fig. 1. The dogs have slots 3a which engage about bolts 4, 6 holding rings 1 together. The handle is pivoted about a bolt 10 passing through the holder unit and has an end portion slotted as at 12 to accommodate two bolts 11 secured to the actuating unit. The gripping surfaces of the dogs can be serrated. The dogs may be of circular cross-section, or other form providing arcuate gripping surfaces.
