Abstract
1305944 Vortex devices DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 25 June 1970 30847/70 Heading G34 A device for regulating flow in a line 1 comprising a vortex chamber 9 having an axial port and opposed tangential ports fed through bifurcated ducts 14,15, one of which includes a control value 11. In operation, with equal resistances in ducts 14,15, the device presents a low impedance to flow in both directions, but varying the setting of value 11 results in the production of a high impedance vortical flow from left to right, while a low impedance is still presented to flow from right to left. As shown a pair of these are devices inter-connected fluidically on their duct sides with line 1 connected in series with the axial ports of both vortex chambers which are arranged one above the other.
