Abstract

1303948 Enclosing successively increments of material in webs; dispensing measured quantities of fluent material IMA INDUSTRIA MACCHINE AUTOMATICHE SpA 14 May 1971 [16 May 1970] 14989/71 Headings B8C and B8N Apparatus for dispensing measured quantities of fluent material comprises a pocketed cylinder 2, a hopper 1 for the material, and a movable web 3 wrapping the cylinder around part of its circumference. The web 3 supplied from roll 7 traps fluent material in the pockets 11 until the point 4 is reached, and thereafter carries the material to two pocketed nip rollers 5, 6 which also feed a second cover web 20 from a roll 19. The second web is adhered or otherwise sealed to the web 3 as they pass between the rollers to form sachets each containing a measured quantity of fluent material. The cylinder 2 and rollers 5, 6 are driven via chain 13 and gears 14- 17 by means not shown at the same peripheral speeds. The webs 3 and 20 are tensioned by braking devices 9, 21 acting on their rolls.
