Abstract

130,336. Ternitzer Stahl-und Eisenwerke van Schoeller & Co. March 27, 1918, [Convention date]. Drawing; mandrels.-Rifling and other grooves are produced in the interior of tubular articles, that may be closed at one end, by pushing through a die whilst mounted on a correspondingly rifled or grooved mandrel. The mandrel 2 has a ball race 9 mounted with play so that contact takes place at 11 during the drawing stroke, the ball race coming into action during the withdrawal of the mandrel from the work. The application to gun, gas-projecting, and bomb-throwing tubes is stated.
