Abstract
1302317 Making bearings; stamping RIVSKF OFFICINE DI VILLAR PEROSA SpA 16 Sept 1971 [27 Oct 1970] 43233/71 Headings B3A and B3Q A method of manufacturing a rolling bearing comprises forming a sheet of material into an annular element having two annular portions of different diameters, shaping the two said annular portions to have the shape required to act as races for the elements, and separating the two portions in such a manner as to provide radially inner and outer rings for the bearing. In one embodiment, race rings 1, 2 (Fig. 1) are produced by dividing an element of the shape shown in Fig. 2 along the annulus 5. The element may alternatively be S-shaped in crosssection. In another embodiment, race rings 6, 7 (Fig. 5) are provided with races 6a, 7a by inserting a rubber ring in an element of the shape shown in Fig. 6 and applying pressure axially to the ring whilst the ring is supported in a die (Fig. 8, not shown). The part 8c of the element 8 may be retained as a radial flange on one racering, or removed.
