Abstract
1300381 Propellent compositions NITROCHEMIE GmbH 21 Jan 1965 2814/65 Heading C1D A solid propellant comprises ammonium perchlorate and a polyurethane or polybutadiene resin and contains also from 0À01-5% by weight of a cyclopentadienyl iron compound and/or from 0À3-5% by weight of a polysiloxane resin in order to increase the burning rate. The cyclopentadienyl iron compound may be ferrocene or an aldehyde, acetyl, phenyl, or amino derivative thereof. Suitable silicon resins are alkylpolysiloxane and phenylalkylpolysiloxane. In Examples 1 and 2 a polyurethane resin is prepared from polypropylene glycol, tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate and glycerine monoricinoleate. In addition to ammonium perchlorate, dioctyl sebacate is present as a plasticizer, lecithin as a wetting agent, and copper chromite as a combustion control additive; other constituents are iron acetylacetonate and triethanolamine. In Example 3 the binder comprises polybutadiene and an epoxy resin, and the oxidizer contains ammonium nitrate.
