Abstract

1300380 Tube walls for furnaces; oncethrough steam boiler KRAFTWERK UNION AG 27 July 1970 [26 July 1969] 36347/70 Headings F4A and F4B In a once through steam boiler, inner downcomer tubes run along and inside outer riser tubes, which are connected by welding and intermediate parts i.e. webs to form a gas-tight wall of the combustion chamber. The inner tubes, which could be eccentric with or touching the outer tubes, may be open ended inside the outer tube so that a reversal of flow occurs. In an embodiment water flows from an inlet header 2, Fig 1, down through inner tubes 3, 4, up through outer tubes 7, 8 to an outlet header 17. A further similar tube system, Fig. 3 (not shown), may be connected in series with this system. Spacers i.e. lugs or helically positioned strips, keep the inner tubes positioned within the outer tubes, which may all be connected, at their lower ends, to a common pipe 20.
