Abstract

1398753 Selective printing COMPAGNIE HONEYWELL BULL 12 Oct 1972 [13 Oct 1971] 47198/72 Heading B6F A printer comprises a rotating drum 2 bearing a raised helical strip 4 against which hammers 6 strike to form characters in mosaic form, paper being fed continuously past the hammers, the hammers being inclined to the axis of the drum 2 to compensate for the movement of the paper. Gaps 9 are provided in the helical strip 4 to prevent a hammer 6 striking two points on the strip when actuated at the beginning or end of a cycle. In a modification (Fig. 11, not shown) successive 180-degree sections of the helix are displaced axially with respect to each other, the hammer heads being formed as two parallel slightly offset arms joined end to end.
