Abstract

1398050 2,16-Dipiperazinyl steroids RICHTER GEDEON VEGYESZETI GYAR RT 26 July 1973 [27 July 1972] 35686/73 Heading C2U The invention comprises compounds of formulae (wherein R is H or C 1-7 acyl; R 1 is C 1-6 alkyl, allyl, hydroxyethyl or acetoxyethyl; R 2 is H, C 1-6 alkyl, benzyl or allyl; X is H; Y is hydroxy or C 1-7 acyloxy; or X and Y together are oxo; and Z is Cl, Br, I, OH, mesyloxy or tosyloxy); and their preparation from III (infra) by reaction with piperazine mono-N-substituted by R 1 , to give I (R=H; X+Y=oxo) from which other compounds I and II are prepared by appropriate steps selected from 17-reduction, 3/17-acylation and salification. Example 9 alludes to a "trimethobromide" by-product. 2α,3α; 16α,17α-Diepoxy-17#-acetoxy-5α-androstane (III) is prepared from 5α-androst-2-en- 17-one via 17-acetoxy-5α-androsta-2-16-diene. Muscle-relaxing compositions for parenteral administration comprise a compound I or II and a carrier or diluent.
