Abstract

1397504 Gaming machines NEW CENTURY NOVELTY CO PTY Ltd 30 July 1973 [1 Nov 1972] 36263/73 Heading G4V A display drum assembly for a gaming machine comprises a mounting frame 22 attachable to the machine, a display drum 5 rotatably supported on the frame, a motor 24 for driving the drum, electrical sensing means 9, including a part 10 rotatable with the drum, for deriving an electrical condition indicative of the stopping position of the drum and electrical leads 17, 18 for relaying said condition to one part of a plugin connector 21 on the frame, the other part of the connector being mounted on the machine. In the embodiment shown the sensing means comprise an insulating rotatable disc 10 having two concentric rings of contact studs (13), (14A) swept by respective wipers 16 and interconnected by electrical components, e.g. resistors 15, the stopping position of the drum being indicated by the value of the resistance between the pair of contact studs in contact with the wipers 16 (Figs. 1 and 3, not shown). The mounting frame also carries a solenoid 26 and bellcrank 27, which operate to brake the drum when motor 24 is not in operation, and a swtich 32 which indicates when the brake is not in operation. The solenoid, switch and motor are also connected to the connector part 21. Rails are provided in the machine for guiding the assemblies as they are positioned in the machine.
