Abstract

1397304 Containers with spouts EX-CELL-O CORP 22 June 1972 [7 Oct 1971] 29260/72 Heading B8P A tubular paperboard container has a concealed closable pouring spout formed in its flat upper end closure and initially opened by tearing along a perforated score line 90. The upper end closure comprises inner and outer rectangular side panels 42, 44 which may be folded to overlie triangular side panels 45, 47 and fold back panels 61, 62, 78, 79. The closure is sealed by adhesive beads 98, 99. The perforated score line 90 comprises a portion 91 in the fold back panel 61 and a portion 92 in the outer side panel 42. The portions 91 and 92 are at a slight angle to each other in the folded closure to form a lift tab (101), Fig. 8 (not shown), on the fold back panel 62 when they are ruptured. The pouring spout is formed, as shown in Fig. 10, by the triangular side panel 45, the fold back panels 61, 62 and portions 56, 73 of the panels 42, 44. The score lines 14a, 51a, 26a, 76, 25a, 24a and 23a are perforated to facilitate folding. The inside surface of the blank may be coated and the bottom end closure and the side flap 20 heatsealed.
