Abstract
1396545 Transferring articles between conveyers T & B ENG Ltd 4 Oct 1973 [24 Oct 1972] 49023/72 Heading B8A Package diverting apparatus for transferring articles from one conveyer to another comprises a support having an aperture therein in which is mounted a turntable supporting driven package advancing means, the turntable being rotatable through a predetermined angle and being mounted for movement between a raised position in which the package advancing means engages a package on the support and a lowered position in which the package is supported by the support alone. In the figure, packages approaching from a conveyer are fed across idler rollers 50 and on to endless belts 4 on turntable 2. If the package is to leave by the conveyer in alignment with the supply conveyer, the belts 4 are merely driven in that direction. If the package is to be diverted to the conveyer on the right or the left of the supply conveyer, the turntable is lowered, rotated through 90 degrees, raised, and the belts 4 are driven in the appropriate direction. If the package is to be turned during transfer, the turntable is not lowered and it may not be necessary to stop the drive to the belts 4. Instead of belts 4, chains, V-belts, rollerways or wheels may be provided as the package advancing means.
