Abstract
1394325 Machinery guards JEAN WALTERSCHEID GmbH 21 May 1973 [29 May 1972] 24014/73 Heading F2J A machinery guard for a flexibly jointed transmission shaft (not shown) of an agricultural machine comprises guard members 5, 6 connected by a retaining ring 3 which is releasably secured to a one piece annular plastics bearing ring 1 having segmental bearing projections 1a engageable in an annular groove (not shown) on said shaft or on part of the shaft joint. The bearing ring 1 is integrally connected by webs 7 to a co-axial supporting ring 2 forming an intermediate space 10 therebetween in which the retaining ring 3 is received to radially retain the bearing segments 1a in the transmission shaft groove. Tapered openings 8 between each pair of bearing segments 1a ensures that any dirt which penetrates in to the annular bearing groove is promptly expelled. The guard tube 5 is secured by holes 16 therein engaging circumferentially arranged projections 15 of a tubular extension 14 of the retaining ring 3. The ring 3 also has a radial abutment face 11, locating against one side of the bearing segments la, and a further extension 4 provided with noses 12 contacting an end face 13 of the ring 2 on the side remote from the abutment face 11. The other guard, i.e. funnel-shaped guard 6 may (as shown) be secured in a recess 17 of the extension 4 of ring 3, or, may be formed as an integral construction with ring 3 (Fig. 4, not shown).
