Abstract

1393366 Lubricants EXXON RESEARCH & ENG CO 29 Aug 1972 [6 Oct 1971] 46458/71 Heading C5F An antioxidant composition for lubricants comprises (a) an alkylated N-phenyl-naphthylamine having at least one C 3 -C 14 alkyl group and (b) an amino compound of formula where X is hydrogen, C 1 -C 20 hydrocarbyl or the group the mole ratio of (a) : (b) being at least 1 : 1. The lubricant may be a mineral, oxidized mineral, fatty or synthetic oil (many examples are given of fatty oils, esters and polyglycols). The lubricant may also contain sebacic acid, dimethyl-silicone, tricresyl phosphate, neutral alkyl aryl phosphates and neutral phosphonates.
