Abstract
139,326. Riddle, W. March 26, 1919. Stands or supports for portable machines.-In cutting water or drain pipes in situ, an oxygen blow-pipe or jet is mounted on a trolly which is secured to and moved round the pipe. After removing the earth a little coal or other carbonaceous or suitable material embedded in slag wool is placed on the pipe and ignited so as to obtain a " bite " on the pipe, and the blow-pipe h then turned on. The blow-pipe passes through a hole in the transverse member b of a trolly which has two side members a provided with sets of guide pulleys c moving under a pair of ropes d, the ends of which are twisted by belaying pins f to adjust the tension. The rear end of the blow-pipe is held in a clip g<1> on the handle g. The trolly is moved half way round the pipe and then turned back and the other half cut. The tackle is then moved along the pipe to obtain a second line of cut and the severed portion removed.
