Abstract

1393164 Endless chain presses DE METS N V KONSTRUKTIEWERKHUIZEN 14 June 1972 [14 July 1971] 27895/72 Heading B5A To prevent undesirable tilting of the link plates 3, 4 of the facing stringers 5, 6 of an endless chain press for continuously producing fibre or chip board, each half of each link plate is acted upon by at least one pressure roller 17, 18. The pressure rollers associated with at least one of the chains e.g. 1 are mounted in bearings (26, 27, Fig. 2), which can be vertically adjusted by pneumatic or hydraulic pistons so that a tapered compression stage, e.g. 17a-17d, and boards of different thickness may be obtained. At least some of the rollers 17, 18 are synchronously driven to assist the hexagonal guide wheels 13-16. Each pressure roller 17, 18 may be braced by a pair of rollers (e.g. 30, 31, Figs. 2, 3), mounted on the piston rods of hydraulic or pneumatic units. The board material is fed through the press on endless belts 7, 8 of steel, fabric, netting or plastics material. Exchangeable spacing bars (40, Fig. 2), may be provided between the bearings (26, 28 and 27, 29) of opposed rollers 17, 18. The chains 1, 2 may be heated by gas burners 22, 23 and the belts 7, 8 by electric heating plates 24, 25 to assist setting of the board binder.
