Abstract

1390377 Looms; stopping and reversing NUOVO PIGNONE SpA 11 April 1972 [7 May 1971] 16709/72 Heading DIE A travelling wave shedding loom is driven in reverse by an auxiliary motor and normally driven by a motor 1 which drives a shaft 4 by way of an electromagnetic clutch 5, 8, the shaft 4 driving the sley crankshaft 19, the shuttle propelling mechanism by way of gears 17, 18 and the shedding motion, let-off and take up motions by way of a shaft 24 driven in the forward direction by bevel wheels 23, 26. Upon weft fault the clutch 5, 8 is disconnected and a brake 10, 11 applied that also connects the auxiliary motor 14 to the shaft 4 by way of worm gearing 12. A handle 31 is then operated to move a dog clutch 47 to disconnect the bevel wheel 26 from the shaft 24 and to connect thereto a bevel wheel 25 that drives the shaft 24 in the reverse direction. A microswitch cam arrangement then ensures that when the starter button is operated the loom operates revolution by revolution so that the sley and shuttle driving mechanisms are operated in the forward direction and the shedding, letoff and take-up are operated in reverse allows the defective picks to be removed.
