Abstract
1389269 Pipette SHERWOOD MEDICAL INDUSTRIES INC 16 June 1972 [16 June 1971] 28392/72 Heading B1X [Also in Division F1] A pipette assembly comprises a barrel, a piston slidable in the barrel, a push button 16 connected to actuate the piston, and means providing greater and lesser stroke lengths alternately on successive actuations of the push button, this means comprising indexing member 60 rotatably carried by the piston, the indexing member having high and low stops 70, 71, abutment means for selectively engaging the high and low stops and selective rotation means for selectively rotating the stops into alignment with the abutment means, the selective rotation means comprising a plurality of axially opposed circumferentially spaced fingers 66, 69 on the indexing member 60 and cam means 51 having first and second camming surfaces engageable respectively with opposed first and second sets of the fingers such that the indexing member 60 is rotated in the same direction upon forward and reverse movements of the piston, the forward strokes then being limited by engagement of the high and low stops alternately with the abutment means, which in the embodiment shown comprise upper and lower surfaces 62, 63 on a stationary cam-sleeve 51. In another embodiment (Fig. 7, not shown), the cam sleeve is itself axially movable within the barrel.
