Abstract
1388291 Fluid-pressure servomotor system ANDERSON MAVOR Ltd 27 March 1973 I [21 April 1972] 18569/72 Heading G3P [Also in Division E1] A mineral mining machine 1 having cutting elements 5 at each end includes a hydraulic servocontrol system operatively connectible with a hydraulic jack 15 for a leading support member 10a or 11a on the face side of the machine, the system including means responsive to transverse tilting of the machine from a predetermined plane to operate a valve to provide a pressure differential in the hydraulic circuit which is applied to a double acting piston 24 to actuate a valve 25 controlling the said jack 15. The responsive means includes a pendulum 21 oscillatable about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the machine and arranged to provide the pressure differential by tilting a plate 34 thereby blocking the flow through one of nozzles 30, 31, or by blocking one of nozzles 22, 23, Fig. 8 (not shown) or by actuating a nozzle (28) of a swinging nozzle valve (27), Fig. 9 (not shown). The cutting elements 5 may be raised or lowered on arms 9, the machine body being maintained horizontal and the gob side sliding along a conveyer 13, or the entire machine may be tilted, the neutral position of the pendulum 21 being offset, for example by screw 35, to maintain the desired orientation of the machine, the gob side being supported on the conveyer by manually set hydraulic jacks. The face side jack 15 is fed with a constant pressure from a pump P and a changeover valve 29 is set manually in accordance with the direction of advance of the machine.
