Abstract

1385796 Inflatable mould linings and cores for concrete G GISMONDI and V SCARAFONI 31 Jan 1972 [13 Feb 1971] 4528/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division B1] The ingredients of a concrete mix are fed from respective silos through respective conveyers and proportioners 1 (Fig. 1) to means for dry mixing. Water is mixed with the dry mix by a continuous mixer 12 which delivers the wet mix under pressure to a mould 18 containing an inflatable lining or core. As described for moulding concrete structural elements embedding reinforcing bars 22 (Fig. 11), the dry ingredients are fed to a conveyer/mixer 2 (Fig. 1); chains 4 support crossbars 3 that are moved along a trough (not shown) from right to left to mix and convey the ingredients. Discharge boxes 7 (see also Figs. 2, 3, not reproduced) are filled successively and their counterweighted gates release the dry mix on to respective conveyers 8, each of which can be pivoted about a vertical axis passing through the respective box 7 to feed a respective reservoir 9. The volume of dry mix in the reservoir is controlled by level gauges 9<SP>1</SP>, 9<SP>11</SP>, and a vibrating dispenser 10 dispenses predetermined quantities into a screw conveyer and mixer 12, which receives water through diffusing inlets 15. Rubber coated, steel, helical screws of the mixer 12 (see Figs. 5, 6, not reproduced) feed the wet concrete through a flexibe pipe 17 into a mould 18. When the mould is full, an inlet valve 19<SP>1</SP> is closed and air or liquid is forced into collapsed cavities 20 (Fig. 11) of the lining or plurality of cores 20 Water drain through mould interstices.
