Abstract

1384278 Stretchers; tension apparatus J BRACHET 7 March 1972 [10 March 1971] 10620/72 Headings A5R and A5X In. combination with a stretcher comprising two longitudinal members 12 supporting a receiving surface 2, a detachable or integral tension-applying apparatus is provided. The tension apparatus comprises two pulling memhers 3, 4, one at each end of the stretcher, a finst belt 5 for attaching round a patient's chest, a second belt 6 for attaching round the ankles pulleys 31, 41 on the pulling members around which cords 53, 63 attached to the belts are passed, to be secured by hooks 33, 44 to hold the spine in tension, and an inflatable belt 9 for preventing movement of the waist. An additional belt 8 may be passed round the head. Additional pulleys 32, 42 may be provided on the pulling members, and can be used instead of the pulleys 31, 41. When the tension apparatus is detachably mounted on the stretcher, the pulling members 3, 4 are adjustable in length. Cushions 10 placed inside the belt 9 may prevent sideways movement.
