Abstract

1383104 Protective arrangements AIR INDUSTRIE 18 May 1972 [21 May 1971] 23517/72 Heading H2K An arrangement for protecting against fire risks due to sparking between a metal object 3 and its suspension hook 2 in an electrostatic coating apparatus, comprises means 4, 5 for inducing an electric charge on the object 3 and means for detecting when sparking occurs due to bad contact between the object and hook, this operation occurring before the object enters the electrostatic coating booth. As shown, the arrangement comprises electrodes 4 connected to a high voltage generator 5 which may be that which supplies the coating apparatus. When the charge reaches a high value, the resulting sparking is detected by an antenna 6 and a detector amplifier 7 which provides an output to effect a light signal or an audible warning, to stop the conveyer of the apparatus or to interrupt the discharge in the coating apparatus.
