Abstract

1380304 Disubstituted imidazoles QUIMCO GmbH 3 Feb 1972 5045/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>11</SP> are each (possibly substituted) aliphatic or aromatic radicals, and a process for making them by reacting R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>11</SP>CHCHO under reflux with NH 3 to give which is reacted at below 15‹ C. with HCN giving an iminonitrile this being cyclized by reaction in a polar inert solvent with HCl. If the reaction with HCN is effected at 30-35‹ C., products of formula are obtained.
