Abstract

1377725 Encapsulating enzymes in starch PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 16 Feb 1973 [18 Feb 1972] 7758/73 Heading C3H [Also in Division C5] A stabilized, encapsulated enzyme (e.g. amylase) is obtained by (a) fluidizing starch particles of 0À1 micron to 100 micron particle size and moisture content of less than 25% by weight; (b) forming an aqueous slurry of enzyme of solids content of 40-80% by weight; (c) atomizing the aqueous solution to give atomized droplets of 100-2000 micron diameter, (d) contacting the fluidized bed of starch with the atomized droplets thereby causing starch particles to adhere to the droplets to form tacky agglomerates and (e) mixing the agglomerates until further starch particles adhere thereto, thereby forming a dry free-flowing product of particle size of 100-3000 microns.
