Abstract
1377183 Oil and gas burner for gas turbines DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 1 Feb 1972 [2 Feb 1971] 3655/71 Heading F4T A gas-turbine fuel-burner assembly comprises a fuel nozzle having a central member 32 including a plurality of ducts 44, 46, 48 for liquid fuel and a plurality of ducts 58 for gas fuel, and a shroud 34, each liquid and gas fuel duct communicating with a respective discharge outlet, 49 or 59, defined between member 32 and shroud 34, the liquid fuel outlets 49 alternating with the gas-fuel outlets 59 around the member 32, and the shroud 34 having slots 62 therethrough, each slot 62 being aligned with a respective gas outlet 59 for directing air in operation on to the gas for stabilizing the flame of low gas flows. The main liquid fuel flow passes from a duct 26 into eight ducts 44 and thence via jets 46 and ducts 48 to outlets 49, air for atomizing the liquid fuel passing into ducts 48 via slots 60 in shroud 34. Primary liquid fuel is supplied via duct 24 to a primary fuel injector 40, engaged by a spring 70, and a primary fuel nozzle 38, screwed into member 32. Primary fuel passes out of injector 40 via apertures 74 and impinges on a frustoconical surface on nozzle 38 to provide a spray distribution having locally rich zones in the manner disclosed in Specification 1,377,185. Air from ducts 48 also passes via holes 64 into a recess 66 between member 32 and a heat shield 42 to prevent the deposition of carbon.
